Scripture Reference: Proverbs 24:10
“If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.”
In this powerful message, Pastor Godwin continued the Project Management Using Jesus’ Mission series by emphasizing how adversity reveals the quality of our preparation. It’s not enough to just be active during the good times; what you’ve deposited in your spirit during peace will be what sustains you in crisis.
Key Thoughts:
Pain is not an end, it is often the beginning of something greater.
Life is made up of highs and lows. In times of plenty, celebrate and give, and in times of lack, learn and prepare.
If you fail during adversity, don’t focus on the failure, rather, focus on the lesson it carries and come back stronger and more strategic.
Introducing the 9 Knowledge Areas of Project Management
This week, we touched on the first knowledge area:
1. Integration
Integration involves coordinating all elements of a project—tasks, teams, resources, and time—so everything works together to accomplish a goal. It’s about keeping your eyes on the big picture while ensuring all parts are moving effectively.
To succeed in integration, you must master the discipline of focus, and to do that, you must learn how to kill distractions.
10 Ways to Kill Distraction in Your Project
Draw Strength from Your Inward Man
Life will hand you disappointments and distractions, but your strength lies not in your surroundings but in your inner connection with God.
Stop running around looking for quick fixes. Instead, sit with God’s Word. The strength you need comes from within—fed by your devotion and intimacy with the Holy Spirit.
Start with a To-Do List
Productivity starts with clarity. A simple daily to-do list gives you direction and helps you break large tasks into achievable steps.
It also reduces overwhelm and keeps you focused on what matters most each day.
Put Your Phone on Silence
Your phone can either be a tool or a trap.
Constant notifications are major distractions that derail your focus. Learn to silence your phone during work periods and only check it at specific intervals.
Do Everything to Get to Work Before the Scheduled Time
Early arrival builds mental preparation. It gives you a chance to organize, settle down, and begin your task with calmness and control.
Rushing into tasks breeds chaos, but showing up early cultivates discipline and readiness.
Have a Work Station
Where you work affects how you work. Create a space that inspires focus and creativity.
A designated table and chair, clean space, and good lighting help your brain associate that space with productivity. Choose an environment where your mind is at its best.
Communicate Your Intentions Ahead of Time
Let people around you know when you’re focused on a project or deep work.
This sets expectations and helps reduce interruptions. Whether at home or in a team, communication helps others respect your boundaries.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to be disciplined and focused.
Strengthen my inner man to stand strong in adversity.
Help me to silence every distraction and walk in the path You’ve called me to.
Teach me how to integrate every area of my life and assignment for Your glory.
Amen.
